چکیده

Systematic simulations are carried out based on the model of fluidized beds proposed by the present authors [K.Ichiki and H.Hayakawa, Phys. Rev. E 52, 658 (1995)]. From our simulation, we confirm that fluidization is a continuous transition. We also confirm the existence of two types of fluidized phases, the channeling phase and the bubbling phase. We find the close relations between the averaged behaviors in fluidized beds and quasi equilibrium states in dense liquids. In fluidized beds, (i) the flow rate plays the role of the effective temperature, and (ii) the existence of a kind of the fluctuation-dissipation relation is suggested. 05.60.+w, 03.20.+i, 82.20.Mj, 83.70.Hq Typeset using REVTEX e-mail: [email protected] e-mail: [email protected] 1

Computer Simulation of Hydrodynamic Behavior of Aggregative Fluidized Beds

Hydrodynamic behavior of aggregative fluidized beds has been studied and a model proposed for the prediction of different characteristics of fluidized beds. According to this model, a computer program is prepared and the hydrodynamic behavior of some industrial units has been simulated.

Modeling of mercury sorption by activated carbon in a confined, a semi-fluidized, and a fluidized bed.

A process model was developed to simulate elemental mercury sorption by activated carbon in three distinct beds, namely a confined, a semi-fluidized, and a fluidized bed. The model involved the coupling of a kinetic model based on the mechanisms of surface equilibrium and external mass transfer, and a material balance model based on the tank-in-series approach. For surface equilibrium, three di...

Hydrodynamic Behavior of Particles in a Jet Flow of a Gas Fluidized Bed

Numerous investigations have been devoted towards understanding the hydrodynamics of gas jets in fluidized beds. However, most of them address the problem from  macroscopic point of view, which does not reveal the true behavior in the jet region at the single particle level. The present work aims to understand the jet behavior from a more fundamental level, i.e. the individual particle leve...

A generalized correlation for equilibrium of forces in liquid–solid fluidized beds

Following a critical publication review on the expansion of fluidized bed with the fluid velocity, the well-known Richardson–Zaki equation is applied to develop a more accurate relationship linking the apparent drag force Fd, the effective gravitational force Fg and the voidage of fluidized beds under intermediate regime. A correcting constant a in the relationship is a function of Archimedes n...

A Numerical Study on Agglomeration in High Temperature Fluidized beds

Soft-sphere discrete element method (DEM) and Navier-Stokes equations were coupled with equations of energy for gas and solids to investigate the process of agglomeration in fluidized bed of polyethylene particles at high temperature. The Newton’s second law of motion was adapted for translational and rotational motion of particles and agglomerates. The cohesive force for polyethylene particles...
